China's postal and logistics sector achieved record levels in 2025, confirming the country's status as a global leader in delivery and e-commerce. According to official data, 216.5 billion parcels were delivered in China during the year, which is 11.5% higher than the result of the previous year.
This was announced by the head of the State Postal Administration of China, Zhao Chunjiu, speaking at a national conference on postal activities in Beijing. He stressed that the growth in delivery volumes is accompanied by the steady development of the entire industry and an improvement in the quality of service.
"This figure is 11.5% higher than the corresponding volume in 2024," Zhao Chongjiu said, commenting on the results of the sector's work.
The financial results of the industry also showed strong growth. The total revenues of China's postal sector in 2025 exceeded 1.8 trillion yuan, which is equivalent to 256.5 billion US dollars at the current exchange rate of the People's Bank of China. Compared to the previous year, revenue increased by 6.4%, which indicates that high margins remain even when operations are scaled.
The express delivery segment remains the key driver of growth. It accounted for about 1.5 trillion yuan of revenue, or 213.7 billion US dollars. In this segment, revenues increased by 6.5%, and the number of shipments processed reached 199 billion parcels, which is 13.7% more than in 2024.
This scaling became possible due to the deep digitalization of logistics processes, the active introduction of automated sorting centers, the development of warehouse infrastructure and the integration of postal services with the country's largest marketplaces. The Chinese logistics model is increasingly seen as a benchmark for emerging markets, including the BRICS countries.
The authorities pay special attention to the quality of services. According to Zhao Chunjiu, China's postal industry is showing steady improvement in reliability, delivery speed, and customer service. This is especially important against the backdrop of growing cross-border trade and international transportation, where China plays a key role in global supply chains.
For participants in the foreign economic activity and international logistics market, such indicators mean the further strengthening of China as the central hub of global e-commerce. The growth of domestic shipping volumes has a direct impact on export flows, the development of warehouse logistics and the formation of new transport corridors, including overland routes to Eurasian countries.
