The building materials market is booming: logistics companies are recording an increase in demand and an expansion in supply lines. What was in demand this summer is in our review.

This summer, there was a significant increase in the logistics of building materials: cargo turnover towards retail chains increased by 16% compared to last year. A joint study of Business Lines and Leman PRO companies for June-August revealed key market trends, including top product categories and popular shipping destinations.

According to representatives of Business Lines, the main starting points were the Moscow and Leningrad regions, as well as St. Petersburg. From there, cargo was most often sent to the regions of the Urals, Siberia and the Volga region. In the stores of the Lemana PRO chain, the increase in cargo turnover was 13%. The main focus of transportation was on tools, plumbing and construction goods.

Leman PRO analysts note that the largest increase in demand was recorded in the finishing materials segment. Painting tools added 11% to sales, interior wall paints — 8%, and facade paints - 7%. In the category of floor coverings, PVC tiles (+23%), insulation substrate (+21%) and related accessories (+11%) stood out especially. The average check for the company was about 3,800 rubles, maintaining the level of last year.

The gardening and country goods category also continues to show steady growth. Every third receipt included at least one product from this group. Among the most popular are fertilizers, plant protection products, inflatable pools, swings and hanging chairs. Sales of outdoor furniture (+89%), artificial turf (+29%) and seedlings (+14%) grew especially rapidly.

The structure of orders deserves special attention: 74% of customers preferred delivery to the address, and 26% chose pickup. These indicators remain stable year on year. In addition, in August 2024, Business Lines began offering targeted delivery of goods to Leman PRO customers, which increased logistical flexibility, especially in the Moscow region.
