Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in a telephone conversation. The focus was on energy, transport infrastructure and the international agenda, as well as the exchange of festive greetings on New Year's Eve.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the parties confirmed their intention to deepen bilateral cooperation. This was announced in an official statement by the Kremlin.

The central topic of the conversation was the further development of Russian-Iranian relations in strategically important sectors. The leaders agreed to continue coordinating and implementing joint projects, primarily in the field of energy and transport infrastructure. These areas are considered as key for expanding economic ties and increasing the sustainability of bilateral partnership in the context of the transformation of global logistics and energy markets.

Special attention was paid to international security issues during the negotiations. In particular, the Presidents touched upon the Iranian nuclear program, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomatic mechanisms to maintain regional stability.

The phone conversation was also emphatically friendly. On the eve of the New Year holidays, the parties exchanged congratulations. Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Vladimir Putin on the upcoming New Year, and the Russian leader conveyed his best wishes to the leadership and people of Iran on the occasion of the national holiday of Shab-e Yalda.

This contact became part of the active diplomatic agenda of the Russian president at the end of the year. Earlier, Vladimir Putin held talks with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during which they discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of previously reached agreements.

In addition, the head of the Russian state sent congratulatory messages on the occasion of Christmas and the coming year 2026 to the leaders of a number of foreign countries. Among them are the leaders of the CIS countries, BRICS, as well as other partners of Russia. These steps demonstrate Moscow's desire to maintain stable political contacts and develop international dialogue even in a difficult global environment.
