Russia intends to significantly expand purchases of Indian goods and services, which could radically change the structure of bilateral trade and bring the countries closer to the goal of $100 billion in trade turnover by 2030. In New Delhi, Maxim Oreshkin confirmed that Moscow is strategically betting on the growth of imports from India and is ready to provide comfortable conditions for suppliers.

Russia has announced its intention to significantly expand purchases of Indian goods and services, a step that could change the structure of bilateral trade and go far beyond the current model of interaction. This statement was made by Deputy head of the presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin at the Russian-Indian Business Forum in New Delhi, stressing that Moscow considers the increase in imports not as a short-term reaction to external conditions, but as a long-term strategy.

Today, India accounts for less than 2% of Russian imports. For an economy on the scale of the third and fourth world economies, this value looks incomparably low. Therefore, Russia is striving to change the imbalance of commodity flows, especially given that the total volume of mutual trade has already approached $ 60 billion.

Oreshkin noted that achieving the ambitious goal of raising trade turnover to $100 billion by 2030 is possible only through accelerated growth in the supply of Indian products. The Russian side is ready to create comfortable conditions for Indian partners, including ensuring unhindered payments and logistics organization.

Of particular interest are six product groups where India is traditionally strong and can scale up the supply quickly. These are consumer products, food and agricultural raw materials, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications equipment and IT developments, industrial components, as well as the sphere of labor and qualified specialists. According to the estimates of the forum participants, these segments are able to ensure a multiple increase in imports in the coming years.

The Forum in New Delhi, organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, has become a key platform for discussing the transformation of Russian-Indian trade. Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed in an interview with India Today that more than 90% of mutual settlements are already carried out in national currencies, which increases the stability of economic ties and reduces dependence on external restrictions.

Moscow and New Delhi are also working on long-term strategies for cooperation in high-tech industries: space, energy, including nuclear projects, digitalization, and joint research and development. All this forms the foundation for a new stage of cooperation, where increased Indian imports to Russia are becoming a key element in shaping a balanced trade model.
