Russia and China are strengthening logistical cooperation: a road bridge will be built in the EAO, which will connect the regions directly across the Amur River.

An ambitious infrastructure project is being launched in the Jewish Autonomous Region (JAO) — the construction of a new international automobile bridge that will connect the village of Pashkovo on the Russian side with the Chinese city of Jiayin. The document of intent was signed at the regional government level and announced on the official portal of the EAO.

The length of the new bridge structure will be more than a kilometer, while the Russian part of the bridge will take about 700 meters. It is also planned to create 600-meter road approaches to integrate the facility into the existing transport network of the region. The project will be financed in the format of a public-private partnership, which will accelerate its implementation and attract investors.

The Governor of the EAO, Maria Kostyuk, emphasizes that the future bridge will open up new economic horizons for the region: it will create jobs, increase cargo flows and become an incentive for the development of tourism. In the long term, it will also contribute to the development of international logistics corridors and improve access to the region's important natural resources.

The project will be implemented by Bamtunnelstroy-Most, which has extensive experience in the construction of strategically important facilities in the Far East. It was she who built the first cross-border railway bridge between Nizhneleninsky and Chinese Tongjiang. The company is currently upgrading the section of the Birobidzhan–Ungun–Leninskoye highway and the bridge over the Biru River in Birobidzhan.

This infrastructural step fits into the overall strategy to create new logistics routes between Russia and China. In the spring of 2025, the Ministry of Economic Development confirmed its participation in the development of an international hub for unmanned transportation in the Amur Region. All this speaks to the growing role of the Far Eastern regions in strengthening foreign economic relations with China.
