Russian companies seeking to explore the Indian market face not only high opportunities, but also the need to carefully build a promotion strategy. As the head of the Indian representative office of the REC, Mammad Akhmedov, noted at a round table at the World Food India 2025 exhibition, successful exports require an individual approach.
According to Akhmedov, almost any product can be supplied to India, from food products to high—tech solutions. However, there is no universal scheme for entering the market: in some cases, you need to rely on participation in exhibitions and local partnerships, in other cases - an emphasis on online promotion or even localization of production. This is especially true within the framework of the Indian Made in India program, which focuses on the development of local production.
The REC actively helps domestic companies adapt to the realities of the Indian market. In particular, the representative office in Mumbai has been providing support to exporters for seven years, including assistance in selecting partners, organizing negotiations and providing financial instruments ranging from insurance to lending transactions.
One of the key areas of support is the promotion of the national brand "Made in Russia". Under this brand, the REC annually organizes the participation of domestic manufacturers in major Indian exhibitions. For example, in March 2025, 14 companies presented their developments at the Smart Cities India Expo.
Serious attention is also being paid to attracting Indian buyers to Russia. In September, the REC conducted a large-scale reverse mission for India's largest importers of fat and oil products. During the week, the delegation visited five regions of the Russian Federation and held more than 500 meetings with potential suppliers.
In parallel with the REC, Agroexport plays an active role in promoting agricultural products with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture. A business mission was organized at World Food India 2025, which was attended by over 30 Russian companies. The Indian side was represented by about 40 organizations, from ministries to distributors and retailers.
The Russian Export Center continues to develop the infrastructure to support non-primary exports within the framework of the national project "International Cooperation and Export". Most of the services are available in digital format through the My Export platform. The REC is also responsible for the implementation of the "Made in Russia" state brand promotion program.
