Against the background of a temporary decline in trade volumes, Russia and China continue to strengthen their strategic partnership, developing cooperation in energy, digital economy and green technologies.

Despite the temporary reduction in trade volumes in 2025, Russia and China continue to strengthen economic ties and form a stable platform for long-term partnership. This was stated by Gao Qi, head of the representative office of the China Committee for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the China International Chamber of Commerce (CCOIC) in Russia, speaking at the VI International Foreign Economic Forum.

According to him, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries remains a key element of the strategic partnership and continues to show positive dynamics. Despite the difficult foreign policy and economic situation, Moscow and Beijing remain committed to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and expanding areas of interaction.

Gao Qi noted that the decline in trade volume in the first three quarters of this year is not systemic. High complementarity remains the basis of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation: China has strong industrial and consumer potential, while Russia has rich resources in energy, agriculture, and extractive industries. This structure creates a solid foundation for the restoration and sustainable growth of mutual trade.

According to the expert's forecasts, further development of partnerships in the energy sector, digital economy, transport infrastructure and green technologies is expected in the coming years. It is these areas that can become drivers of a new stage of cooperation and bring bilateral relations to a higher level.

Gao Qi also stressed that the international situation remains tense, and global markets are experiencing a period of turbulence. Nevertheless, Russia and China have sufficient margin of safety to withstand external pressure. Political stability, strategic coordination and common economic logic allow countries to maintain the pace of development even in the face of global challenges.

The expert called on both sides to actively develop direct business ties, improve transport and logistics infrastructure and strengthen cooperation in the financial sector. In particular, special attention is proposed to be paid to the development of settlements in national currencies, increasing the transparency of logistics chains and the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into the cross-border trade system.

Thus, despite short-term fluctuations in trade indicators, the long-term prospects for Russian-Chinese cooperation are assessed as stable and positive. As integration in the fields of energy, digital solutions and the environment deepens, trade volumes between the two countries are expected to return to a steady growth trajectory.
