Egypt's digital exports have grown by 124% in seven years and reached $7.4 billion. The ICT sector has become the fastest growing in the country's economy, increasing its share in GDP and turning Egypt into a major center of outsourcing and technological production.

Egypt's digital exports have grown by 124% over the past seven years and reached US$7.4 billion, confirming the country's transformation into one of the key technology hubs in the Middle East and Africa. This was announced by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, quoted by the Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

For comparison, in 2018, Egypt's digital exports amounted to 3.3 billion US dollars. Thus, in a relatively short period of time, the sector has become one of the key drivers of the national economy. The communications and information technology industry has demonstrated stable annual growth of 14-16%, and its contribution to the country's GDP has almost doubled, from 3.2% to 6%.

Outsourcing remains the most dynamic segment. In three years, exports of services in this area have grown from $2.4 billion in 2022 to $4.8 billion in 2025. At the same time, the ecosystem of companies has expanded significantly: the number of market participants has increased from 90 to 240, reflecting the growing interest of international business in the Egyptian jurisdiction.

Significant changes are also taking place in the industrial part of the digital economy. Egypt is actively developing local technological production. The country has launched the production of mobile phones of 15 international and national brands. Production capacity has more than tripled over the year, from 3.3 million devices in 2024 to 10 million in 2025, which strengthens Egypt's position in regional value chains.

Large-scale government investments in infrastructure and human capital have become a key growth factor. Since 2019, about 6 billion US dollars have been allocated for the modernization of fixed and mobile Internet networks. These investments allowed Egypt to take the first place in the world in terms of the average fixed Internet speed, which reached 91.3 Mbps.

Special attention is paid to the development of artificial intelligence. Launched in 2019, the National AI Strategy has helped Egypt rise to 46 positions in the global ranking of government readiness to implement AI. This has become an important signal for international IT companies and investors.

Mass training complements infrastructure reforms. In seven years, the number of graduates of technological specialties has increased 200 times. In the current fiscal year, the authorities plan to train about 800,000 specialists, which should meet the needs of the fast-growing sector.

According to experts, the combination of digital infrastructure, qualified personnel and a well-developed legislative framework makes Egypt one of the most attractive destinations for global IT outsourcing. Recent agreements with international and local companies are expected to create about 75,000 new jobs in the industry over the next three years.
