Russia and China have agreed to deepen cooperation within the framework of the BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This is stated in a joint communique published following the 30th regular meeting of the heads of government of the two countries.
According to the document, the parties intend to expand specialized cooperation through multilateral mechanisms, paying special attention to the economy, transport and investments. Moscow and Beijing stressed the importance of strengthening mutual ties as the basis of a strategic partnership.
Special attention was paid to the development of transport links between the two countries. The joint plans include the expansion of air services, the implementation of the Russia—Mongolia—China economic corridor project, as well as the development of rail and road transportation.
The governments intend to encourage the growth of foreign trade turnover through railway checkpoints, increase the efficiency of container transportation and simplify administrative procedures for businesses.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who arrived in China on an official visit on November 3, noted that relations between the two countries had reached "the highest level in history," despite the sanctions pressure. According to him, the format of cooperation between Russia and China ensures effective coordination of executive bodies, strengthening a comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to analysts, cooperation within the framework of BRICS and SCO will allow the countries to strengthen transport and logistics interconnectedness, stimulate trade and increase the stability of the Eurasian economy as a whole.
