The Russian government has extended increased export duties on certain types of timber until the end of 2028. The measure is aimed at limiting the export of wood with a low degree of processing and supporting domestic producers.

In January–August 2025, Russian Railways transported more than 5 million TEU containers, which is 3.9% less than a year earlier. In total, over 53.4 million tons of cargo, including chemicals, timber and fertilizers, were transported in containers.
