Since April 20, 2026, the import of goods from Armenia to Russia has become more complicated. Two of the country's largest marketplaces reported the difficulties and explained exactly how they react to it.
The head of Ozon in Armenia, Hayk Karapetyan, put it bluntly: "Due to changes in the customs clearance of goods upon import to Russia, temporary difficulties arose with the delivery of goods from Armenia. To prevent customers from canceling orders due to long delivery times, we have hidden the cards of these products for customers in the Russian Federation for a while. At the same time, all the goods of Armenian entrepreneurs that are located in Ozon warehouses in Russia are sold without restrictions."
Wildberries gave a similar explanation. From the official statement: "Since April 20, the rules of customs clearance have changed in the Russian Federation. In order to comply with the new requirements, sellers had to provide additional documents as part of the updated procedures. At the same time, goods already in warehouses in the Russian Federation continue to be sold as usual."
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan urged not to panic: "My experience shows that there are no unsolvable issues. We will try to deal with the situation even over the weekend." Yerevan sees what is happening as a technical task, not a political one.
What exactly has changed in the customs regulations is not disclosed either by marketplaces or official sources. Armenia is a member of the EAEU, that is, it moves within the framework of a single customs space with Russia. Nevertheless, it was she who found herself at the epicenter of the changes, which indicates the specifics of what is happening.
The context is important: Armenia has long been a popular transit route for parallel imports. Through it, goods from brands that had officially left the Russian market entered Russia. The new documentation requirements at customs may be part of a systematic effort to whitewash this flow, especially against the background of the launch of SPOT and its pre—control logic.
For sellers working from Armenia for Ozon and Wildberries, the situation requires immediate action.: find out from the marketplace exactly which documents are needed now and prepare them before the next shipment. Goods are being sold in Russian warehouses — the only problem is new supplies.
