Yandex introduced the Yandex Commerce Protocol (YCP) as a standard for integrating online stores with AI. The official description states that the purpose of the protocol is to provide online retailers with a direct sales channel in a chat with Alice AI and in search, while the seller remains the online store itself and receives order data.
The key for the market is unification. When integration becomes a standard, the entry price for thousands of stores, including small D2C projects, is reduced. Four connection formats are announced in YCP: automatic for stores on Yandex KIT, a module for 1C-Bitrix, connection without development for those who already trade on their website and in Yandex Market, plus an API for their own solutions and other CMS.
For foreign economic activity and logistics, this means the growth of "conversational" commerce, where a purchase is launched from a dialog, and order execution is required in a short time. The easier it is for the seller to receive the order, the higher the load on the warehouse, routing, payment and status control. In this model, companies with industrial processing benefit: accurate runoff, fast collection, clear delivery, transparent returns.
A separate line is payments. The message indicates payment via Yandex Pay and the possibility of payment in installments in a Split. For the seller, this affects the conversion and receipt, for the logistician, it affects the requirements for confirming statuses, since the client expects the delivery forecast right inside the chat script.
Practical steps for an online store:
- Evaluate which connection format is suitable for the current CMS and stack.
- Check the availability of the catalog: attributes, balances, deadlines, delivery and return rules.
- To link operational SLAs: build time, cut-off, cancellation processing, refund processing.
- Prepare analytics on the chat/search order source to see the cost of attracting and quality of traffic.
From the point of view of the industry, YCP acts as an infrastructure layer. It forms a common protocol for the interaction of stores with an AI intermediary, where speed and accuracy of execution become the main selling argument.
