China cuts export VAT: which goods will become more expensive to import into the Russian Federation
China is changing the rules of export VAT: from April 1, 2026, refunds for 271 items will be canceled or reduced, and a transitional period will be introduced for batteries until complete cancellation from 2027. For Russian imports, this is a risk of rising prices for both direct supplies and goods where Chinese components are "protected". We're figuring out where to expect a surge in shipments, how prices will behave, and which contract clauses should be reviewed in advance.
