In the first nine months of 2025, the demand for small-size cargo delivery in Russia doubled. According to the Business Lines Group of companies, the main growth driver was the activation of online commerce. More and more customers are ordering small shipments not only to the distribution hubs of marketplaces, but also directly to the final recipient.
The company explained that this trend has been observed for several years. The growing interest is explained by the comprehensive service that can be obtained in one package: from targeted delivery and transportation between terminals to packing in a box, insurance and handling for parcels weighing up to 15 kilograms. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar and Chelyabinsk remain the key destinations.
The average weight of shipments varies from 1 to 3 kg. Shipments weighing up to 30 kg and with a volume of up to 0.1 cubic meters are classified as small-sized. Most often, components, parts, machinery, medical supplies and electrical goods are transported.
According to the structure of clients, legal entities predominate — they make up 73% of customers, another 14% are individual entrepreneurs. The main consumers of the service are companies operating in the wholesale, manufacturing and distribution sectors.
During the holiday campaigns, for example, before the New Year or the school season, the number of shipments increases significantly. This is due to the fact that companies tend to replenish stocks in advance, and individuals more often place gift orders and school supplies.
Complex logistics for small shipments is becoming an important competitive advantage for both B2B and B2C segments today. Convenience, speed, and transparent conditions facilitate companies' transition to regular use of such solutions.
