The trade turnover between Russia and Brazil reached $5.8 billion in the first half of 2025. Russian exports increased by 32%, and Russia's share in fertilizer imports to Brazil exceeded 30%. Russia has become the fifth largest importer of Brazilian goods.

The trade and economic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Federative Republic of Brazil continues to gain momentum, demonstrating impressive growth dynamics. According to the latest data, the mutual trade turnover between the two countries reached a significant $5.8 billion in the first six months of this year. This positive trend confirms the strengthening of business ties between Moscow and Brasilia.

Russia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Brazil Alexei Labetsky said in an exclusive interview with Izvestia that Russian exports to the South American country showed a particularly noticeable increase. The volume of shipments from Russia to Brazil increased by an impressive 32 percent, reaching $2 billion. Such a significant increase indicates the growing interest of Brazilian partners in Russian goods and the effectiveness of the chosen strategy of economic cooperation.

The mineral fertilizers sector deserves special attention, where Russian producers have been able to significantly strengthen their positions in the Brazilian market. According to statistics provided by Ambassador Labetsky, the products of domestic chemical industry enterprises account for more than 30 percent of the total volume of mineral fertilizers imported to Brazil. This indicator clearly demonstrates the competitiveness of Russian agricultural inputs and their compliance with the requirements of one of the largest agricultural producers in the world.

The successful development of trade relations has also affected Russia's position in the ranking of Brazil's key trading partners. Currently, the Russian Federation ranks fifth in the list of the largest importing countries of Brazilian goods, with a share of 3.7 percent of the total volume of foreign trade transactions of the South American state. This achievement is especially significant against the background of global economic instability and changes in international logistics chains.

The growing trade turnover between Russia and Brazil is part of the general trend of strengthening Moscow's economic ties with the BRICS countries and other countries of the global South. Earlier, information was received about a significant increase in the volume of trade between the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates, which increased by 80 percent in January-May 2025, reaching $ 3.97 billion.

Experts note that the successful development of Russian-Brazilian trade relations is based on the complementarity of the economies of the two countries. Russia has significant resources in the field of mineral fertilizers, energy resources and other raw materials, while Brazil is a major producer of agricultural products, including coffee, soybeans, meat and fruits.

The prospects for further growth of trade turnover look optimistic. The parties continue to work on removing barriers to trade, developing transport and logistics infrastructure, and expanding the range of mutual supplies. Special attention is paid to ensuring smooth payments and the development of financial instruments that contribute to strengthening economic partnership.

The successful experience of trade cooperation between Russia and Brazil can serve as an example for the development of similar relations with other Latin American and Caribbean countries. The region is of significant interest to Russian exporters and investors, offering opportunities for diversifying foreign economic relations.

Against the background of the changing global economic architecture, the strengthening of partnership between major emerging economies such as Russia and Brazil is of particular importance. Mutually beneficial cooperation contributes not only to the economic development of the two countries, but also to the strengthening of a multipolar system of international relations.
