The Federal Customs Service and marketplaces have joined forces to revolutionize parcel customs clearance
The installation meeting, which was led by Vladimir Ivin, Deputy head of the Federal Customs Service, was attended by specialists from the service's structural divisions, representatives of the Rosatom state Corporation, as well as leading Russian marketplaces Ozon, Wildberries and Russian Post. Such a composition of participants indicates the desire to take into account the interests of all parties and create the most effective and balanced system.
As Vladimir Ivin noted, the current work lays the foundations for customs administration for years to come. The main goal is to develop such technological processes that will be comfortable for businesses and effective for the state in the context of growing digitalization. Special attention is planned to be paid to the issues of import substitution of software and technological solutions.
To optimize the work, the group's activities were divided into three thematic sections, each of which is assigned a curator-leader.:
-
Automation and design of business processes is Rosatom's area of responsibility. The participants of this section will develop and implement IT solutions for automating routine operations.
-
Regulatory support — the supervisor will be Ozon. The Group will work to create clear and transparent legal mechanisms governing e-commerce.
-
Compliance with prohibitions and restrictions — Wildberries will lead this important topic. The task is to create effective tools to prevent the import of prohibited products while ensuring the speed of processing legal goods.
The coordinator of all work is the Federal Customs Service of Russia. It is planned that the general meetings of the group will be held monthly, while the sections will meet weekly to promptly resolve emerging issues.
Business representatives supported the initiative of the Federal Customs Service, especially noting its timeliness. The autumn-winter period is traditionally the peak season for e-commerce, and the creation of smoother and more predictable customs procedures will help all market participants avoid logistical collapses and delays in the delivery of orders to consumers.
This project is part of the implementation of the Customs Service's Development Strategy until 2030 and is aimed at creating a modern, flexible and technologically advanced customs administration mechanism that meets the challenges of the time and the volume of the growing cross-border e-commerce market.
