The recall includes the Nin 160 FMB-NML Facemask C G blue, a blue three—layer mask manufactured by Ningbo ETDZ Holdings Ltd (China) and imported to the UAE by Globemed Care LLC.
Inspections identified "foreign material or contamination in units from the affected batch" — it was this wording of the regulator that served as the basis for the recall. The reason for the inspection was a complaint about the quality of the product.
The Emirates Drug Establishment has ordered all medical institutions, clinics and pharmacies to immediately stop selling, supplying and using masks from batch No. 20251015. The entire identified balance is subject to quarantine and return to the distributor — Globemed Care LLC. Institutions are required to record the number of identified, isolated and returned units. At the same time, the Dubai Health Authority sent a separate circular to medical centers demanding that they comply with the order.
Globemed Care LLC was ordered to withdraw all distributed volumes from the market and provide the regulator with full reports: how many masks were imported, distributed, returned and remain in warehouses, as well as a complete list of distribution points in the UAE.
Individuals who have purchased masks are instructed to stop using any packages with the batch number 20251015 and return them to the point of purchase. The regulator also called for quality complaints and adverse events to be reported through the approved Emirates Drug Establishment channels.
For Chinese medical device manufacturers and their distributors in the Persian Gulf region, the incident shows how a single complaint triggers a complete chain of responsibility: from the retailer to the importer, with mandatory documentary reporting to the regulator. Companies supplying similar products to the UAE should set up a batch traceability system and rapid response protocols in advance — the regulator requires data on each link in the supply chain.
