The official launch ceremony of the updated infrastructure took place on October 6. In 2.5 years, the builders have erected about 60 buildings and structures, laid 12 additional lanes for transport — the total number of lanes has reached 16, and installed more than 100 pieces of technological equipment. In fact, a new checkpoint has appeared in place of the old one.
The main technical novelty is the portal inspection and inspection complex (PIDC), combined with weight and dimensional equipment for the first time in Russia. Vehicle scanning and weight measurement are now performed simultaneously while the truck is moving through the portal. Previously, these operations were performed sequentially.
"For the first time, a portal inspection and inspection complex combined with a weight and dimensional one has been installed in the cargo area. Thanks to this innovative approach, weight control and vehicle scanning can be performed simultaneously, which will speed up the process of passing control procedures," the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reported.
Kraskino is included in the list of priority automobile crossings, where, on behalf of the president, the standard time for truck inspection should be reduced to 10 minutes. The installation of a combined PID is one of the specific measures for this assignment.
"The Kraskino automobile checkpoint is one of the key points on the border with China, it is an important link in the development of trade with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The facility meets all the required requirements. Modern instrumental control systems will ensure effective state control at the border and, of course, fulfill the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, to reduce the typical time of inspection of cargo transport," said Valery Pikalev, head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
The next stage is the introduction of a "promising checkpoint model" provided for by the updated Strategy for the development of the customs service. The model is based on the automated collection and analysis of data from all cargo transport control systems. Its distribution to Kraskino is scheduled from January 1, 2027.
For shippers working on the Chinese route through Primorye, the increase in capacity to 650 trucks per day and the reduction in inspection time are changing the logic of supply planning: the timing of border crossings is becoming more predictable. Starting in 2027, when the intelligent checkpoint model becomes operational, automatic data exchange between control systems will be added to this, which will potentially speed up customs clearance.
