Rospotrebnadzor has suspended the import and turnover of products from a number of Georgian manufacturers in Russia. The restrictions include wine, cognac, beer, Nabeglavi mineral water and Georgian Coca-Cola. The reason is non—compliance with the mandatory requirements for organoleptic, physico-chemical parameters and safety. Importers of Georgian beverages should check the status of their shipments.

The restrictions were introduced based on a decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The products were found to be non—compliant with the mandatory requirements for organoleptic parameters — taste, smell, color, appearance - as well as for physico-chemical composition and safety.

Several Georgian companies have been suspended. Specific brands of wine and cognac, types of beer, as well as the name of the company producing Georgian Coca-Cola are not disclosed in official materials. The mineral water of Nabeglavi is listed by name.

The decision affects both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic segment. Details of violations for each manufacturer are not provided, so there is no reason to consider all the identified discrepancies homogeneous.

The suspension applies to the import and turnover of the listed products, but not to all Georgian beverage imports. The question of whether the restrictions apply to all batches of these manufacturers or only specific ones is not clarified in the available materials. Importers working with Georgian suppliers from the affected categories need to clarify the status of their shipments before they are put into circulation.

The context of the decision is broader than one case. In May 2026, Rospotrebnadzor had already suspended the sale of wine and cognac from Armenia, also due to non—compliance with mandatory requirements. In July, the Rosselkhoznadzor restricted the import of products from a number of Armenian dairy enterprises: the inspection revealed problems with livestock contamination, the use of raw materials from third countries and the lack of safety guarantees. The grounds and circumstances of each of these decisions vary.

For market participants, the picture is as follows: the supervisory authorities consistently apply a mechanism to suspend import and turnover of products from the EAEU countries and trading partners when violations of technical regulations are detected. Importers specializing in food products from Georgia and Armenia should request up-to-date test reports from suppliers in advance and monitor updates to the register of limited products on the Rospotrebnadzor website.
