The Ministry of Finance, Rostec and Gazpromtrans discussed foreign economic activity at the MGIMO Forum
The forum opened on September 29 and will last until October 2. The plenary session was led by Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and moderated by Vladimir Shapovalov, Dean of the Faculty of International Business.
The financial part was closed by Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseev: stability of settlements, adaptation of business to the changing financial infrastructure, reliable mechanisms of cross-border cooperation. For importers, the topic is painful — the payment channel that worked a month ago is closed without warning.
The State Secretary of the Union State, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Glazyev, unfolded the broader picture: the long-term transformation of the global economic system, the strengthening of integration associations, technological independence, and the transition from unilateral models of dependence to cooperation between sovereign states.
Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec, called the ability to create complex technological products and build stable production links a factor of economic security.
Mikhail Mironenko, CEO of Gazpromtrans, said the most practical thing for logisticians: the new configuration of markets requires flexible routes, efficient transportation, expanded multimodal solutions and strengthened ties between manufacturers, operators and consumers.
The geography has been expanded by foreign participants. Kenyan Ambassador Patrick Matuki presented the African dimension — trade, investment, industrial cooperation, education, infrastructure. Domingo Garcia, President of the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, added a Latin American outline: advancing into these markets requires an understanding of national specifics and decision-making mechanisms.
Editorial comment. The value of such a platform for a company that ships a container tomorrow is in the signals. The emphasis on multimodality and flexibility of routes reads like confirmation: the focus on one supply channel has stopped working even on the horizon of the quarter.
