Wildberries has started making payments to sellers whose goods were damaged at the logistics complex in Elektrostal. The first transfers began on July 22. The founder of the company and the head of RVB, Tatiana Kim, said that priority is given to small and most vulnerable entrepreneurs, whose number exceeds 88 thousand.
"The least protected entrepreneurs will receive the first payments," Tatiana Kim told reporters.
The first reaction of the market was restrained. According to the sellers' profile chats, so far a small number of sellers have received money, and the amounts have caused dissatisfaction. One of the sellers reported a payment of 37 thousand rubles for lost goods worth about 1.5 million rubles. A gap of this magnitude indicates that the calculation is not based on retail value.
The legal framework for payments is not easy. Since July 7, 2026, an updated version of offer No. 98 has been in effect, which limits the liability of the site in circumstances of force majeure. Delivery of the goods before July 7 does not by itself guarantee the application of the previous version: the general exclusion of liability for force majeure was in effect before.
At the same time, sellers still have a chance to receive at least partial compensation — the company's previous practice works for this. After the fire at the warehouse in Shushary, Wildberries paid the sellers 34.9 billion rubles, which accounted for about 95% of the estimated damage.
Experts call a compromise the most likely scenario: payments for the internal inventory of the marketplace with a limited calculation formula, supplemented by logistical and banking benefits. A full refund of the retail value along with the lost profit is estimated as unlikely — the probability is less than 10%.
At the same time, the sellers appealed to the Federal Tax Service with a request for a tax delay due to the loss of goods.
Sellers who find themselves in a situation should document the volume and purchase price of the lost goods according to their accounting data, without relying solely on the inventory of the site, and compare the amount received with these figures. If there is a discrepancy, it makes sense to request the marketplace to calculate compensation for specific articles — the editorial board of the offer defines the limit of liability, but does not cancel the seller's right to understand how his payment is calculated.
