Magnit Market is abandoning the universal marketplace model. The company combines the platform with the e-commerce contour of the network and translates it into an expanded shelf format: household chemicals, cosmetics, household goods and products that complement the range of stores.
The schedule for curtailing operations is divided into three dates. Since August 20, sellers have lost the opportunity to ship goods according to the FBS scheme through partner pick—up points - sorting centers and cross-docks remain. Until August 31, partner PVZS will gradually cease operation. Starting from September 6, the main showcase on the website and in the application will be suspended. All sellers have already received a notification about the need to remove goods from the warehouses of the site.
Separately, on July 27, the site updated the offer following the three largest marketplaces. The new version clarifies the procedure for allocating responsibility in case of force majeure, and drone attacks are explicitly mentioned. The document is valid from August 1.
The representative of the retailer emphasizes that the project is not being closed: cooperation with sellers will continue, the order of return of goods and the new operating model will be disclosed separately. One of the options being considered is the Magnit Delivery service, where partners will be able to place goods in compact warehouses and in darkstores, and the network will take over express delivery.
The reversal completes the stage that began with the purchase of KazanExpress in November 2023. Together with the platform, the retailer received a network of PVZ, warehouses, a fleet of vehicles and about 12 thousand sellers. The ready-made infrastructure did not give sellers a steady turnover.
What the seller should do. Plan the removal of leftovers now: after September 6, the storefront is closed, and the storage facilities are closed until August 31. For those who traded on FBS through partner points, it was recommended to rebuild the shipping scheme for sorting centers and cross-docks by August 20. Read the new version of the offer regarding force majeure and assess where the risk of loss of balances now lies.
