Ozon refused to increase the tariffs for the sale, which was supposed to start on July 31. The platform announced this in the Telegram channel for sellers on July 27, four days before the date.
The original scheme looked like this. Since July 31, the FBO sales commission has increased by 6 percentage points for goods cheaper than 300 rubles and has been pulled up to the FBS level for goods more expensive. The increase was to be offset by a discount on commission for local orders — 6 points from July 31 to August 29 and 3 points after. The logic of the bundle is that the product is in a warehouse in the same cluster where the buyer lives, delivery is faster, and the seller pays less.
Now the bundle has broken apart. The promotion has been lifted. The launch of the locality system was postponed to August 30, and the 6-point discount disappeared along with the first month of its validity. Starting on August 30, sellers will receive 3 percentage points of discount for local orders in all but three clusters: Moscow, Moscow Region and Far Regions, St. Petersburg and Northwestern Federal District, and Belarus. There will be no discount at all in these three.
The background explains the sharpness of the movement. Since July 9, Ozon has removed the extra charge for non-local sales from logistics. Alexey Vasiliev, AUREK's co-chairman for legal Affairs, then assessed the new design as a deterioration in sellers' conditions and a violation of a previously issued FAS warning: the canceled margin was returned through an increase in the commission for non-local orders, and the commission is calculated from the price of the product.
Two weeks after this assessment, the FAS reported on the marketplaces' compliance with their warnings and separately reported that the issue of commission restrictions was being worked out as part of amendments to the law on the platform economy.
What the seller should do. The August models built for July 31 will have to be recalculated: the commission for the first month remains the same, there is no discount for locality in August. It makes sense to plan the distribution of balances by clusters for the date of August 30, and for the three excluded clusters, the economy should be considered without a discount at all. No one has canceled the increase in commissions since August 28: shoes for FBO go to 50%, for RealFBS — to 55%.
