The basis is Federal Law No. 289—FZ dated 07/31/2025 "On Certain Issues of Regulating the Platform Economy in the Russian Federation", which enters into force on October 1, 2026. At the same time, two government resolutions are beginning to take effect: No. 821 dated 07/02/2026 on verifying information in product cards and No. 768 dated 06/20/2026 on verifying information about persons wishing to become partners of the digital platform.
The list of affected sites is broader than is commonly believed. In addition to Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex Market, the requirement applies to Avito, Epson, Lamoda, "Cooper", Yandex Food (including Yandex Go and the former Delivery Club), Yandex Travel and Magnit Market.
Linking the code to the card automatically starts checking the permits. For categories where certification is required by law, platforms will be able to verify the availability of valid certificates. Product renaming workarounds stop working: the classification code uniquely identifies the product.
For labeled products, you will additionally need a valid digital GTIN identifier, a numeric code located at the bottom of the barcode on the package. According to GTIN, IT systems of marketplaces and government agencies determine whether a product is subject to mandatory labeling and block sales without the QR code of the "Honest Sign" system.
You can add GTIN to the card manually through your personal account. Bulk addition is available via an Excel file or API.
A transition period has been set for already published products: cards without uploaded site classification codes must be hidden from March 29, 2027. Sellers have about five months after the law comes into force to bring the existing assortment into line.
Importers find themselves in a special situation: the HS code, which is used for customs declaration, must now match the code in the product card on the marketplace. The discrepancy between the customs classification and the description on the display case becomes visible to the regulatory authorities. Sellers importing goods from the BRICS countries and placing them on Russian platforms should check in advance the compliance of the codes in the declarations of goods and in the cards — and, if necessary, adjust the descriptions before October 1.
