Wildberries has transferred the second tranche of support payments to sellers whose goods were lost at the company's logistics facilities. The RWB press service announced this on the evening of July 30. The second stage included more than 97,000 entrepreneurs belonging to small and medium-sized businesses.
The program began working after the July incidents at warehouses in Kotovsk, Elektrostal and Krasnodar — the remnants of thousands of sellers burned down there, and individual sellers lost goods worth tens of millions of rubles. The company carried out the first tranche earlier, at the same time it announced credit holidays: decisions on large businesses are made individually.
The figure of 97,000 shows the scale of the affected part of the market. For comparison, the total number of active sellers on the site is measured in the hundreds of thousands, and a significant segment of SMEs fell into the compensation loop — those who had all their turnover in one or two warehouses and had nothing to distribute the risk with.
The legal framework around these payments has changed over the month. Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex Market rewrote the offers so that the responsibility for the loss of balances in case of external incidents lies with the seller: Yandex Market introduced this wording on July 20, while the other two had it earlier. Payments are made not according to an obligation from the contract, but as a decision of the site itself.
This changes the risk calculation for the seller. The contract no longer guarantees compensation, the support program is the goodwill of the marketplace, and the site determines its parameters itself.
What the seller should do. Check the status of the application and the fact of enrollment in the second tranche in your personal account — coverage has expanded, and some of those who did not make it to the first stage could enter the second. At the same time, it makes sense to return to the issue of insurance of inventory balances in the marketplace warehouses and the distribution of shipments between several clusters: the current version of the offer does not leave the site with the obligation to compensate for losses.
