Starting in 2026, the base VAT rate in Russia has increased to 22%. For marketplaces and importers selling to individuals through online platforms, a new settlement rate has been introduced - 18.03% instead of the previous 16.67%. At the same time, the maximum customs duty increased from 30 to 74 thousand rubles. The total cost of imported goods increased by 5-10% at the beginning of the year, and some market participants are still unaware of this.

The combined share of Wildberries and Ozon in the Russian online trading market will amount to 77% by the end of 2026, according to Euler analysts. At the same time, the growth rate has slowed by half compared to previous years. The period of rapid expansion is ending: the market is saturated, and the low base effect is disappearing. Marketplaces are looking for new revenue sources outside of Russia.

The EAEU is moving towards lowering the duty-free threshold for foreign online orders from €200 to €100 — and probably to €50. This is one of the main changes in e-commerce in recent years: foreign trading platforms have been operating for years with a tax benefit that Russian marketplaces did not have. Wildberries and Ozon paid VAT and duties on each sale, while foreign competitors transported goods without customs duties. The threshold equalizes the conditions.

Starting from June 1, SPOT becomes mandatory for all those who import goods from the EAEU countries by road. The main change for marketplace sellers: VAT and excise taxes are now paid not after the sale, but before the goods are imported. A shipment of 3 million rubles is 660 thousand frozen funds until the goods are sold. For those who worked "by sight", this is the first real cash gap.
